5 Superb ideas to go on a date with your kids in Dubai

It is that time of the year when heart, love, romance and date night becomes the keyword of your existence. February brings with it a whole stream of activities, events, products, and experience marketing the ” Love is in the Air” theme, thanks to the cliche’ that Valentine’s Day is all about. Don’t get me wrong, I am all about Love and Romance and I even enjoy the Valentine festivities but once Motherhood hit me, my definition of love has changed.

With all due respect to what I feel for my husband, for me, now, one very special bond of love that makes my heart melt and ovaries explode is the love and bond that I share with my little one. However, increasingly as the life gets busier with chores, work, responsibilities and expectations, I don’t get to enjoy as much one on one time with my daughter that I would like to. And hence, I feel it’s important to take time out to ” Date your kids”. To spend quality time with them exploring and enjoying great places and great vibes in Dubai.

Whether you are a New mom, or a New Dad or a veteran parent with a few kids, I bet you will agree that we need quality time with our kids to forge the special bond that we shall all cherish in our old age. Right?

Sharing with you, my tried and tested ” 5 Superb ideas to go on a date with your kids in Dubai“.

I am writing with the perspective of a Mom, obviously, but most of these are perfectly doable by Daddy ‘s too, so please don’t feel left out. They’re not expensive and they don’t require much planning at all. Best of all, they help nurture the bond you share with your child.

So here goes,

1. Go to Ripe Market and have a picnic at Zabeel Park with your little one.

Zabeel park has greenery, ample sunlight, huge space to walk and play hide and seek, some organic shopping options and even Petting Zoo fun. place.
You can visit the Ripe market every Friday from 9 am – 4 pm, at Gate 2, Zabeel Park, Dubai from 13th October 2017 to April 2018. Each week you will find new talent, new products, an increased variety of local businesses, more food trips and a range of fun and exciting activities, with even more ways to get healthy with Ripe! Find all new classes, from boot camps to parent and child sports classes – they have it all!
All the ingredients you need to create the perfect Mommy & Me date recipe. If you and your little one like a botanical treat with outdoor fun and shopping, this is the place to be.

2. Have some sensory fun at “We Rock The Spectrum Gym” for kids in Jumeirah.
This is one of the newest hotspots in Dubai for kid’s activities. The founder Dr. Nashila, told me that this is a place that manifests the ” Play with a Purpose” intention. This is one place you can go with your little one and watch them jump, swing, run, climb and enjoy while decide to cheer them or join them in their fun. What is more special is that it is a place that opens it’s door to even kids with special needs. In fact, it is a highly recommended place for them too. The team at We Rock The Spectrum Kid’s Gym offers a long list of activities for special needs children to participate in and enjoy with their typically developing peers. This allows parents of special needs children to have a place to take all their children and know they won’t be separated but instead offered the opportunity to play, grow and develop together. The We Rock The Spectrum Kid’s Gym has a ton of equipment and activities to do with special needs children including sensory-based gym equipment and strength improving equipment as well.
And what’s exciting is that they are also having a Valentine’s Day special event at their venue. Check out their website here, for more details.

Isn’t it a beautiful place to have that Mommy & Me time at, even if you are a mom of a sensitive or special need child. Inclusion, sensitivity and oodles of fun. A valentine day celebration I like!

3. Experience the magic of childhood with an amalgamation of science and art for kids at the “Olie Olie.”
Olie Olie means Joy in Hawaiian. This by far is the place that gets me more excited than even my little one. It is a place where, when I went, I told my husband, where was this when I was a kid. Seriously! If you are in Dubai, with your kids, this is a place you visit. Period.
I happened to meet the founder at the launch event and she told me that this place is the result of very many inspirations, and essence from their travels and from the most successful children’s museums, science centers and art studios across the world that they brilliantly created here, for us in Dubai.
It is a splendid place to have that ONE on ONE time with your kid because unlike another play area, this place is all about engaging with your children. It is not a Drop and plaything or you sit in the cafe while kids bounce kind of a place. It truly is a place where you and your little one or even older kids can spend a constructive, scientific, stimulative conversation and time while having tonne loads of fun together. Each visit will allow 2 hours of play and is guaranteed to be awesome. Visit their website for more details here.

4. Lounge on the Beach and have a blast at JBR BeachI live in JBR and so I am super partial to the JBR Beach. I know there are some fabulous beaches in Dubai where you can have great picnics with your little one, collecting seashells and making sand castles, but I still love the vibes and festivity at the JBR beach. You can go to the beach walk and have a great lunch with milkshakes and icecreams with your kids or get immersed in the #wowjbr celebration that has been going on since November 2017. Every weekend, JBR’s 1.7 km promenade celebrates Dubai with pomp and show and you can enjoy some performances from a live band, kids activities and the chance to catch a graffiti artist at work. And guess what, these are all free to attend!
So, date your kid at JBR and have a blast.

5. Play dress up as Mermaid with your daughter or dress up your son as a Pirate at Mermaids of Arabia
Do you read to your little kids, stories about pirates and princess and mermaids? Then bring them to the Dubai Mall and enter the magical kingdom of Mermaids of Arabia and get a makeover. I took my little one the first time when she was only 2 and yet she remembers the experience and the fun she had talking to the other Mermaids there. You can read my review of this place in the Megz Review section here.
Mermaids of Arabia presents a unique entertainment concept that invites families to enter a world of magic. Their dedicated team delivers an enchanted experience where kids and adults alike can fulfill their childhood dreams.
How fun it will be to become a Mermaid with your little girl, click some pictures, sing some songs, read a book and create beautiful memories of an afternoon well spent.
